As part of the ministerial duties of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO), it is essential to promote transparency in the prices of products and services for sale in Puerto Rico. The goal is to allow consumers to make informed decisions, free from deceit. Based on this principle, and in accordance with the provisions of Statue No. 7-2019, known as the “Prescription Drug Price Transparency Law”, DACO, in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS), have enabled this portal in which, once a month, all pharmacies in Puerto Rico will report the retail prices of the 300 prescription drugs that are used most frequently.

The included list of prescription drugs was prepared by an Interagency Committee, composed of the Secretaries of the Department of State, Department of Health, and DACO; the directors of the Health Insurance Administration and the Car Accident Compensation Administration; and the Administrator of the State Insurance Fund Corporation. The reported price is what an uninsured consumer, without a discount or supplemental plan, would normally pay for a standard dose of a drug for a 30-day period.
